The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad announced that the Prime Minister’s laptop Scheme 2023 will resume in the next few days.

While speaking with journalists in Karachi, he also said that with assistance from Microsoft and other international organizations, the HEC will launch a program for online courses for students in Pakistani universities.
This announcement comes after the federal government, led by the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, announced that it would resume its landmark Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2023 under the Youth Development Initiatives. According to HEC sources, a budget of Rs10bn has been allocated for the scheme and laptops will be provided to students of BS, Masters, MPhil, Ph.D., and undergraduates (with a limited number).
HEC Director, Additional Finance Secretary (Budget), Planning and Development Division, Science and Technology, Higher Education Department Punjab, Higher Education Department Sindh, Higher Education Department Balochistan, Higher Education Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, National Information Technology Board (NITB) representative, Higher Education Department Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) representative, and others.
The government has also established a committee under the supervision of the HEC Chairman which will finalize all matters including criteria.
